Viacom set earnings per share ($5.40) and operating income ($4.13 billion) records for fiscal 2014, finishing the year with a pretty solid fourth quarter too.
First, the latter: For Q4, analysts had forecasted earnings per share of about $1.68 on $3.9 billion in revenue. Viacom's EPS topped that target, with a reported $1.71 per share. The company's revenue finished above Wall Street's estimated mark too, at $3.99 billion.
Compared to 2013's related three-month period, the media company's EPS was up year-over-year — from $1.55 — though profit was down. Revenue for 2013's Q4 was $3.65 billion, so Viacom saw a leap by that metric too.
