Gadi Oron, CEO Cisac « a 3,5 billion euros loss for creators »
The creative industry is taking a huge hit with the sanitary crisis. Authors’ royalties are decreasing at a rapid pace, with no end in sight. Whilst collections for 2019 grew by 7.4% to hit €10 billion for the first time, the losses of 2020 – for music only and for all repertoires combined – are set to wipe out five years of growth since 2015, says CISAC, the organisation representing collecting societies around the world. Gadi Oron, its CEO, tells us more about the necessary growth of digital revenues, and the unquiet, and uncertainty, of the whole creative sector due to the cancellation of most live shows.
