Sacem is reborn as a « data company »

Six months after its new management team took office, Sacem has announced that it is now a « data company », and intends to obtain remuneration for each online use of its members’ works.

Cécile Rap-Veber and David El Sayegh have taken up their respective positions as Director General and Deputy Director General of Sacem in October 2021. Between the health crisis – which affects many authors – and the voluntary redundancy plan of 150 persons last year, they have had their work cut out for them. Still, they want to take advantage of this pivotal period to move Sacem, the largest collective management organisation in the World, into the future: « it’s now or never to transform this organisation » explained Cécile Rap-Veber last Friday at a press breakfast.

The composer Patrick Sigwalt, current president of Sacem, was also present: « we want to put our members back at the center of Sacem. We are entertainers, we cannot manage our copyright ourselves. That’s why we need professionals we can trust to do it for us. » On the ongoing transformation…
