Implementation of the IA Act : the creative sector unites
The creative sector is coordinating its efforts and demands as part of the discussions surrounding the implementing acts for the new European AI Act, with a view to obtaining the most extensive obligations possible for platforms in terms of respect for copyright and related rights.
The European Regulation on Artificial Intelligence (AI Act) came into force last August. It introduces new obligations into European law, including two for which intellectual property rights holders have fought hard, and which are particularly aimed at generative AI developers. Firstly, there is an obligation of transparency with regard to the training data of these tools, and secondly, an obligation to put in place a policy aimed at complying with EU law on copyright and related rights, in particular with regard to the reservation of rights or « opt out ».
