Commission no-confidence motion: The end of the “Cordon Sanitaire” in Brussels

Yesterday, a debate took place in the European Parliament regarding the motion of censure lodged against the European Commission, which will be voted on Thursday. Rather than focusing on Ursula von der Leyen’s record, the discussion centered on the recent voting patterns of the European People’s Party (EPP), which aligned more with the right-wing factions in the Strasbourg assembly than with its traditional partners from Renew, the Socialists, and the Greens.

We’ve known it for several weeks, but it’s now a fact: the European People’s Party (EPP) now assumes responsibility for voting, when it deems necessary, with the European Parliament’s most right-wing groups.
