AI Act Omnibus: Parliament takes control of the timeline
The European Commission wanted to move quickly to adjust the AI Act. The European Parliament, however, has chosen to take its time. The LIBE and IMCO committees have just appointed their respective rapporteurs: Michael McNamara, who confirms that he will not act hastily, and Arba Kokalari.
The parliamentary procedure on the AI Act Omnibus is only just beginning, and it will be neither quick nor purely technical. While the European Commission had hoped for a quick review of this corrective text, the European Parliament has made it clear from the outset that it wants to take back control of this politically and legally sensitive issue.
