AI: Parliament is already preparing to reassess the Copyright Directive

With the mandatory review of the 2019 directive approaching, the European Parliament is stepping up its initiatives on AI and protected works. Between the Voss report in JURI, the future text from the CULT committee, and renewed pressure from the cultural sector, Brussels is entering a strategic phase: politically framing the Commission’s diagnosis.
With three months to go before the mandatory evaluation of Directive 2019/790, the debate on artificial intelligence and protected works is intensifying in Brussels. Yesterday, numerous organizations representing the creative and cultural sectors, and in particular authors and performers, published an open letter once again calling on MEPs to strengthen the framework applicable to AI.
