Music: CNM Export Certifications Confirm the Boom in French Back Catalog

The National Music Center (CNM) and the SNEP have unveiled the 2025 export certifications for French productions streamed internationally. Behind the dramatic rise in the number of certifications, a trend is becoming clear: streaming is permanently transforming release cycles, with the back catalog now playing an overwhelming role. New releases are growing strongly, but older hits continue to dominate global streams.

With 815 export certifications awarded in 2025 to 440 artists, compared to just 358 certifications in 2024, the National Music Center (CNM) and the Snep are claiming a new record for French music internationally. During the presentation held on May 21, CNM President Jean-Baptiste Gourdin emphasized that “the number of certifications has more than doubled,” while noting that these figures are based on self-reporting, as labels remain free to submit—or not submit—their projects for certification.
