France won’t be able to get the vote on the European Artificial Intelligence Act blocked this Friday. The Elysée, under the aegis of Bercy, has fallen back on a desperate – and not easily won – attempt to obtain an interpretative statement from the European Commission, which goes its way. It’s like a repeat of the famous « GAFAs tax », so much wanted and never obtained by Emmanuel Macron: the French government once again finds itself isolated in Brussels on a fundamental issue, this time that of the AI Act.
