IA Act: the Commission studies the possibility of a one-year delay in the application of the text

The implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Regulation’s provisions on general-purpose AI models, scheduled to come into force next August, could be postponed by a year.

The European AI Regulation (IA Act), is applicable from August 2, 2026, but the obligations incumbent specifically on general-purpose AI models, i.e. generative AI, come into force from August 2, 2025. « The obligations incumbent on providers of general-purpose AI models should apply from August 2, 2025.
