Meta is considering a change to its content moderation policy in Europe too.

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta will cease its relationship with fact-checkers, and implement a system similar to X’s Community notes « starting with the US ». Several elements in Mark Zuckerberg’s statement, but also in Meta’s communication with the European Commission, make it clear that things are very likely to change for Instagram and Facebook in Europe too.

As we explained yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg is announcing a drastic relaxation of content moderation practices on his platforms, including a community rating system and the end of fact-checking by specialized media and companies, which will begin in the US « within the next two months ».
