Audiobooks: the third pillar of Spotify’s overall strategy
Spotify is accelerating rapidly in the audiobook market. At the Frankfurt Book Fair, the group announced that its service, currently available in 22 markets, will be rolled out to more than 180 by the end of the year. More than 750 million people will then be able to listen to or buy audiobooks on Spotify. In the new markets, the platform will offer more than 350,000 titles, notably in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian… and Polish, bringing the total number of languages covered to over 120. Spotify now boasts a catalogue of over 800,000 audiobooks from nearly 300 publishers and more than 50,000 authors. The agreements are non-exclusive.
