Minors online: the European Parliament reiterates the rights and autonomy of minors
In November 2025, the European Parliament had reached a decision. Based on a report from its Committee on the Internal Market (IMCO), it called for a harmonised digital age of 16 for access to social media, video-sharing platforms and AI assistants, unless parental consent was given, and an absolute minimum age of 13 for social media. Ten months later, the resolution drafted by the Committee on Culture and Education… (CULT) and adopted on 17 September no longer refers to these figures.
