Radio broadcasters are calling for FM and DAB+ receivers to be made compulsory in new cars
In the age of 5G and AI, calling for an analogue radio tuner seems somewhat anachronistic. And yet, radio service providers have long made this technology the cornerstone of their broadcasting strategy. FM is vital for radio and retains advantages that have never been replaced by… IP, for example. On 21 September, French public, private and community radio stations reiterated their call for new cars to be required to be fitted with FM and DAB+ receivers. DAB+ covers just over 62 per cent of the population in mainland France.
