GAFAs : Germany goes it alone

The Bundestag is amending German competition law in order to impose specific obligations on large digital platforms. The fact that this new law has a similar scope to the European Digital Markets Act proposal tabled in December is problematic for the Union.

For several years now the European Union has given an impression of poor coordination regarding digital matters. One of the objectives of the Juncker Plan was to awaken Europe’s digital technologies, and has had little effect in that regard.
