Renew : Stéphane Séjourné wants to present a united front
One of Emmanuel Macron’s closest advisors, Stéphane Séjourné is running for the presidency of the centrist Renew group, against his Dutch liberal colleague Sophia In ‘t Velt. He will have to convince that his candidacy is serious, that it does not constitute a French putsch on the group, and also that he can strengthen the political weight of the third formation of the European Parliament, divided lately.
French MEP Stéphane Séjourné will be answering questions from his Renew colleagues next Tuesday, as part of his campaign for the presidency of the group, as will his Dutch colleague Sophia In’t Velt. The latter will probably put forward her long experience in Brussels: she is indeed in her fourth mandate in the European Parliament, while Stéphane Séjourné is a newcomer.
