Donald Trump attacks digital services tax, DMA, DSA, and SMA directive
In a memorandum to his ministers, Donald Trump demands that they take action to counteract the various taxes and legislation passed in Europe that he claims target American companies. In doing so, he defends Meta and Apple as well as Netflix and Disney.

In a memorandum dated Friday, he asserts that « American businesses will no longer prop up failed foreign economies through extortive fines and taxes », and asks his ministers to act by « imposing tariffs and taking such other responsive actions necessary to mitigate the harm to the United States and to repair any resulting imbalance. ». The foreign measures he is targeting are taxes on digital services, and in particular the one adopted by France, legislation restricting digital activities, and in particular the Digital Services Act, the Digital Markets Act, but also the 2018 Audiovisual Media Services Directive, which allows European states to make streaming platforms contribute to local production.
