AI: the performers’ dilemma
Adami and Spedidam have undertaken to protect the rights of their members in the face of the emergence of artificial intelligence by proposing an a priori « opt-out » on works. So it’s certainly time to look back at what’s at stake in such a battle in a landscape where AI is evolving at supersonic speed, and to better understand what it’s all about.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is now establishing itself as a central player in artistic creation, profoundly shaking up the cultural landscape, particularly that of performing artists. The arrival of new generative technologies like Suno AI, capable of creating original songs from simple text commands or even humming, heralds a radical transformation of traditional artistic practice. These developments open up immense prospects, while at the same time raising legitimate concerns among performers, who are confronted with a revolution that could well redefine their profession and their relationship with the public.
