AI Omnibus: A Vote Less Consensus-Driven Than It Seems

Adopted on Tuesday by a vote of 423 to 57, with 174 abstentions, the AI Omnibus has certainly cleared its final hurdle in the European Parliament. But behind this comfortable majority lie growing political divisions, particularly among French MEPs: the Patriots for Europe refused to support the final compromise, while the French delegations from Renew and the Socialists largely abstained, with the latter even going so far as to vote against the text during the decisive vote on the trilogue agreement.
