Polish EU Presidency: focus on media, Creative Europe and misinformation

Poland, which holds the Council of the EU presidency until June, presented its cultural program. There was little mention of AI, and more of the European program Creative Europe, the revision of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive, and the fight against disinformation.

Poland holds the presidency of the EU Council from January 1, and until June 30. It precedes Denmark and succeeds Hungary. Hungary held a strange presidency, since most of the political formations in the European Parliament, and many EU countries, consider it persona non grata due to its government’s political orientations, which are deemed too right-wing. On the cultural front, however, Hungary had tried to push forward the issue of copyright compliance by generative AIs. Be that as it may, it’s with a « phew » of relief that everyone welcomes Poland to Brussels for this six-month period. Last Thursday, Hanna Wróblewska, the country’s Minister of Culture, appeared before the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education to present the country’s priorities, accompanied by several other government representatives, including the Secretary of State for Sport.
