Meta Announces Expansion of Its Teen Protection Measures
Under growing regulatory pressure, Meta is expanding its teen protection measures. The company now acknowledges that the challenge lies not only in content, but in the ability of its algorithms to trap users within targeted topics, paving the way for regulation of recommendation mechanisms. Meta is rolling out its new teen protection settings globally on Instagram, Facebook,… and Messenger. The goal is to limit minors’ exposure to certain content deemed inappropriate and to strengthen the default restrictions applied to users under 18. The company announced this on its website today. The company states that 90% of teens have kept the default settings since their launch.
