Canal+: more talk to markets, less to subscribers
Canal+ is banking on international expansion and takeovers to emerge as a rival to the streaming giants after reaching 40 million subscribers, but a lack of global franchises, an aging technology platform and low international revenue per subscriber leave serious doubts about its ability to achieve this. Canal+ is a listed company, which has taken its independence from the Vivendi galaxy. Its ambition is to compete with the major platforms, mainly American, that are setting the pace in streaming.
