AWS: sovereignty by control, not by ownership
AWS today formalized its European sovereign cloud announced at the end of 2025, providing an operational response to European injunctions on digital sovereignty. A concept of sovereignty redefined in terms of control, local operation, and governance, far from political rhetoric on technological independence, but aligned with real market constraints.
