European budget negotiations : the Parliament slams the door

The MEPs in charge of finalizing the EU budget have left the negotiating table, and warned that they would not come back until the Council of the EU agreed to come closer to their positions. « We want new money, » MP Valérie Hayer, one of the negotiators, told us. Some MEPs are very disappointed by Ursula von der Leyen, who according to them is playing the game of the Council, currently chaired by her country, Germany. The Parliament demands a better deal for budgets such as Creative Europe and Digital Europe to move forward.
