Shocker: IMCO committee wants to put an end to notice and put down!
The final compromises from the Internal Market Committee on the future Digital Services Act confirm what we announced last week: if these are voted in plenary, which is likely, the Parliament would put an end to the obligation of platforms to expeditiously remove notified content! This obligation, called « notice and put down », is the basis of the e-commerce directive of 2000, which the DSA was supposed to amend, in order to strengthen the obligations of platforms rather than softening them.
