Music calls for a stronger European policy, and a European Music Observatory

Under the leadership of the French National Center for Music and the French EU Council presidency, representatives of the sector met this week in Strasbourg. Their goal: to push for a stronger European program for music, building on the new Music Moves Europe program.

The Centre National de la Musique (CNM), with the support of the French EU Council Presidency and the European Parliament’s Cultural Creators Friendship Group, organized the « One Voice For European Music » event in Strasbourg on 6th April. Their aim is to gather support for a stronger European program in favor of music. Whilst a good omen, the program Music Moves Europe initiated in 2021 is still small. To convince European institutions and member States to strengthen it, the CNM has brought together more than thirty European organizations from the sector, representing authors, record and show producers, publishers, and CMOs, to work on a single roadmap, which was presented in Strasbourg.
