AI: the French press ready to negotiate with Open AI
French press publishers intend to negotiate with Open AI, and other generative AI developers, as early as 2024. Le Monde is going it alone for the time being.
Last December, Open AI announced that it had signed an agreement with international press publisher Axel Springer, which should generate remuneration of several tens of millions of euros in year one, in exchange for providing recent articles to feed ChatGPT. This agreement comes at a time when copyright holders are demanding that Open AI and AI developers such as Midjourney, DALL-e and Stable Diffusion negotiate agreements for the use of their works in their products.
