Media Freedom Act: Too Late for Polish Crisis…
The European regulation on media freedom is moving forward, with a vote in the Council today. It should be ready for adoption in plenary as early as February. Meanwhile, the crisis continues in Poland, where Donald Tusk is determined to have the skin of a public audiovisual service he considers gangrened by populism.
Member states today voted their formal agreement in favor of the Media Freedom Act, based on the provisional agreement between Parliament and Council of December 15. The European Parliament’s Culture and Education Committee will vote on January 24, after which the text can be adopted in plenary.
