Mobile games: further decline of consumer spending in 2023
Consumer spending on mobile games has still not recovered its all-time high of 2021, but the fall is less vertiginous than in 2022. The Chinese market is particularly hard hit.
Data.ai warned back in August, in its « Gaming Spotlight » report, and the news is confirmed by the « State of mobile gaming report » published at the end of last week: sales and in-app purchases in the global mobile games market down by 2% in 2023. Despite this, « Gaming remains the powerhouse of mobile spending, accounting for a staggering $107.3 billion last year – nearly 63% of consumer expenditure in app stores », says Data.ai.
