Streaming tax -The CNM responds to Spotify’s criticism

Following the announcement of Spotify’s price hike in France, the Centre national de la musique (CNM) has responded with a statement clarifying that the streaming tax – the source of the price hike – does not fund the CNM’s operations, but programs to support artists and companies in the industry.

There’s still no lull in the music industry following the adoption at the end of 2023 of the tax on streaming platforms to fund the Centre National de la Musique. Spotify, no doubt fearing theoil-stain effect at European level, last week announced an increase in its rates in France…
