French government asks its Data Protection Authority not to over-interpret the GDPR
As part of his Simplification! action plan, the French Minister of Economy and Finance notes that data regulation poses problems for innovative companies, and intends to require its data protection authority to apply the General Data Protection Regulation in a minimalist manner.
The French government is today launching its action plan entitled « Simplification! », which we reprint below. In its preface, Finance Minister Bruno le Maire and his team explain that this Plan aims at nothing less than « transforming our economic life for good », with the first objective being « a radical change in philosophy, so that administration is fully at the service of all businesses. » The other objectives are to « support small economic players » and to « facilitate and accelerate the ecological, energy and digital transitions that will enable our country to reindustrialize », writes the Minister….
