The French cultural sector makes its case against the Rassemblement National
Fearful for their sector in the face of the rise of Marine Le Pen’s party, French cultural players are taking up their pens to address either French voters or the Rassemblement National directly. At the heart of their concerns are the threats of privatization of public broadcasting.
A collective of organizations from the French audiovisual sector yesterday published a tribune addressing French citizens, taking up the cause against the privatization of public broadcasting sought by the Rassemblement National. Last week, Adami, which represents performers in music, film and television, chose a somewhat different path, directly criticizing and questioning Marine Le Pen’s party on its plans for culture. Both actions demonstrate the sector’s dismay at the now possible end of a system that has been operating since the 1980s, and which supports an economic fabric made up of thousands of structures…
