Guidelines on Article 17 : France gathers support in its fight against the Commission
France is no longer alone in criticizing the positions taken by the European Commission for its future guidelines on article 17 of the Copyright directive. Almost all Member States, with the exception of Germany, are asking the Commission to make improvements. Thierry Breton’s reaction is still pending.
On Monday, the Copyright Working Party of the Council of the EU organized a video conference meeting. The discussion focused on the preparatory positions taken by the European Commission for its future guidelines on Article 17 of the Copyright Directive. We already know that France and representatives of the cultural sector across Europe are worried about the Commission’s proposals.
