Cultural recovery : European Parliament puts pressure on member States

A group of MEPs from all political groups is calling on EU states to ensure that part of the post-Covid recovery funds are earmarked for culture, and to put in place fiscal incentives, such as tax credits, in favor of creation.

Just before Christmas, a group of more than 100 MEPs sent an open letter to Heads of State, Finance Ministers and Culture Ministers of all EU countries. They want an earmarking of at least 2% of national recovery budgets for culture, and ask for tax incentives for creation. The group of MEPs has tried, without success, to obtain the compulsory earmarking of part of the European stimulus funds towards culture from the parliamentary committees dealing with budgetary…
