Lawsuits against Open AI: GEMA leads the way
GEMA is the first authors’ society in the world to take legal action against a generative AI developer, and is taking on the biggest of them all right from the start: Open AI.
For several months now, the major authors’ societies have been trying unsuccessfully to negotiate with generative AI developers. Several were ready to take legal action: GEMA, the German equivalent of Sacem, is leading the way, with a lawsuit against OpenAI for copyright infringement with its ChatGPT large language model.
