There are a lot of things wrong with American life, with the Internet, and with social media. The latest candidate for something you should be exasperated with and/or worried about are the “Twitter Police,” squads of scolds who attack those unfortunate enough to unwittingly rile them up. So says Michael Rosenwald in the Washington Post: With a limitless cache of outrage, officers use Twitter streams as both crime scenes and interrogation rooms, apprehending subjects for things they say online and off. They are old-fashioned, almost Mayberry-like, in their statutes — be nice, be fair, don’t talk without thinking, they warn — but their use of force is out of whack with the misdeeds they avenge...
